Denim Processing Plant Limited (DPPL) has been recognized as a LEED Green Gold Certified Factory. The Company has earned the honor by fulfilling the requirements of the Lead Green Building rating conducted by US Green Building Council (USGBC). International Green Building Expert and Lead Consultant and Managing Director, Ananta Ahmed handed over the certificate to DPPL at a ceremony on Saturday (March 5) at 1pm.
On this Occasion the CEO of Denim Processing Plant Limited (DPPL), Md. Zahangir Alam said, "Since we got the certificate now, we feel like we are contributing to the society. Besides, we are also protecting our environment. With this achievement we want to give a message to the whole nation. We used to throw away the waste before but now we are recycling and reusing it. This will reduce our costs and save our environment."
Ananta Ahmed said, "To build new factories and make the old factories environment-friendly are very important for Bangladesh for two reasons. Firstly, a lot of people are getting employed here. And when factory gets certified, it also adds new dimensions here. Green factories make their working environment healthier, and at the same time energy, water and resource efficient."
He added that, "There are more than 150 LEED certified projects in Bangladesh and these have taken the branding of our garments factories to the next level.”
Ayesha Akhter, Managing Director of Denim Processing Plant Limited (DPPL) said, "Since our DPPL is Green Gold Certified, it means that we are able to better keep our commitment to the environment. It’s a big deal for our company and we’re glad to acheive it."
Director of Denim Processing Plant Limited (DPPL) Drimit Alam Heeya, Alamgir Hossain, journalists and concerned officials of DPPL were also present at the event.
USGBC LEED Gold Certified Green factory add-ins to the long list of sustainability practices of DPPL. It has achieved this Gold Certificate with 70 LEED points.
